RED PROPHET RADIO

Something ten feet tall is walking through the scarlet desert. It's part leftover human and part contaminated Martian red weed, and where the head should be there's a tangle of bone that works as an antenna. It broadcasts on every frequency still standing. Nobody has worked out how to switch it off.

Sound only starts when you press the static button, and it stays quiet. Transmissions are recombined every time you tune in, so no two are quite the same.

THE BROADCASTER

Around ten feet tall. It moves haphazardly and seems to follow the static in its own fibrous head. It leaves a trail of twitching red spores. Radiation storms don't hurt it; they feed it. The bone antenna catches lightning, and the transmissions get louder and happier.

There's a bounty on it. Every attempt to collect has ended the same way: the hunter somewhere worse, and the Prophet somewhere else, still broadcasting.

LISTENER ADVISORY

  • It doesn't know where it's going. Neither will you.
  • The adverts aren't real offers. The weather reports tend to be accurate.
  • If the signal gets louder without you touching the dial, it's getting closer.
  • Stations drift. Between them there's only static, and the static is also listening.
